Versant is an international business and working with many clients and strategic partners to bring the very best UK case studies are available on request.

Case study 1:   IP Performance

IP Performance is a company established in 1994 to deliver Network Infrastructure Solutions. The nature of the business is complex with many aspects to be considered throughout the life cycle of any given project. Furthermore, the IPP offering includes service levels that are of the highest order in terms of response, typically within 4-hours on a national basis.

Clearly there are many elements that need to work harmoniously together in order for IPP to fulfil the needs of their customers in a manner that meets and exceeds expectations.

Taking a view

Versent were appointed to help implement systems that would facilitate levels of transparency that had, hitherto, not existed within the business to ‘join-up’ the IPP structure and allow for a more integrated and holistic view of projects.

After a period of consultancy that involved the examination of the prevailing situation and the interviewing of members of the IPP team, Versent formulated a plan of action achieve IPP’s goal of a more connected business structure.

The chosen solution was the deployment and integration of a Nexus based portal that would streamline many aspects of IPPs business. The solution encompassed everything that was impeding smooth operation such as legacy files and software that was still lingering around long after the business had outgrown it. These things stood in the way of growth as they defied coherence and data was fractured and disjointed, the Versent consolidation of such disparate elements into one coherent whole derived many tangible benefits for IPP.

The portal rapidly delivered true transparency improving communication and workflow. Both vendors and customers alike were also benefiting as all issues arising became instantly visible.

Result

Taken as a whole, the deployment of the portal solution has delivered on many diverse levels; Vendor relations are better, customer support is exceeding expectations and, with a vastly improved and more integrated single point of access, the combined knowledge base is delivering fresh leads from the data the company already holds.

All of this is totally controllable by designated officers of IPP who have specific authoring and editing rights assigned to them.

Marketing and HR are another two beneficiaries of the Versent designed and deployed solution, HR can keep track of records and update files easily and efficiently whilst Marketing is benefiting from using data accessed via the portal to not only distribute messages but also to track activities and results.

All in all the solution so far is best summed up by IPP Managing Director Phil Crossley “The Versent consultancy revealed a great deal more than we would ever have imagined in terms of legacy issues and conflicting systems but, more importantly, the system they deployed really has delivered great results. I would suggest that we are saving in the region of one week per month, per head as a result. Add that up and you start to see a very good return on investment rather more quickly than I would have imagined. There is still more to do to make it absolutely complete and I am more than happy to progress with Versent because they do what they say – they deliver!

Case study: 2

A group of ten project managers have implemented a way of streamlining their company's manufacturing times. They’re working with a consultancycompany outside of there organisation and senior directors from both companies constantly want to know the status of there projects.

Before they had a  Business Portals, they would find the project was constantly held back whenever a member of the team was out of the office – information was difficult to find and the senior directors were frustrated by the lack of management information received.

A business portal gave each user, including the outside consultancy access to a central web-based environment, where they could see each other’s files and key information about the project. Any user could log-in securely when they were away from the office and the senior directors received instant key performance indicators whenever they were needed, which showed them the status of the project.

Case Study:3

“Faced with the challenge of managing a field force of over 80 engineers conducting a mixture of routine servicing and breakdown repairs to their clients' lifts and associated equipment as well as coping with the need to rapidly respond to emergency release situations, a well-known South East firm of lift engineers were struggling to obtain accurate and up-to-the-minute information on the activities of their engineers who were working hard to respond to the demands being put upon them by Head Office but with little ability to be able to advise when they were busy or when they were available for the next task etc.

This lead to the adoption of a PDA based data capture system provided by Liftdata recording data into a SQL Server Express database which together with the Filemaker based application provided by Liftdata created the core applications being used for this task. However, there was something missing, namely the presentation of these different sources of data into a real-time updated graphic dashboard – that’s where iDashboards came in!

Building upon iDashboards enterprise-class interactive web interface, the company were able to create within hours of the initial installation a fully interactive dashboard to visualise the current status of jobs allocated to engineers and as a result enable Head Office staff to see at a glance who’s available for the next job etc. With only a couple of days training, they have now enabled the directors and managers to increase the productivity of their field force of engineers as well as identify which customers are experiencing the most frequent call-outs etc.

The Managing Director has said of iDashboards ‘Without the up to the minute, at a glance view which iDashboards provides for our Services controllers we’d be failing to provide the high levels of service of which we’re justifiably proud. This is one of the best purchases we’ve made in a long time!’  All helping to…
